Hi everyone! *waves* I'm Katie, Katy's roommate. We sound like a sitcom, don't we? Katy&Katie. Ha. We met in library school when I heard her say she wrote fanfiction, and then she offered me a ride home because it was REALLY cold out and public transit seemed terrible in that cold, and so was the beginning of a wonderful friendship! As far as writing goes, I'm currently editing (and accidentally writing new bits, whoops) a memoir and finishing up a massive Les Miserables fanfic (it got out of hand, I don't even know). I get generally excited over musical theater, French and American revolutionary history, Marvel, and all kinds of others things. Anyhow, it's nice to be here!

I'm going to take a bit of credit for the Les Mis fic getting out of hand. Making simple things difficult is a specialty of mine!
Welcome to the forum, Katie!!

Hello! The Katie&Katy sitcom could be the story of my life. I went by Katie in high school, and my best friend's name was...Katie. Apparently we were both so traumatized by this that now I go by Kate and she goes by Kat. Ooh, and two of my old roommates are Katey and Catherine. All variations of the name "Katherine" are going to follow me around forever.
Les Mis! I'm actually (trying) to read the book now...there are just so many pagessss and the print is so smaaaall. But I'll finish it eventually because I really do love the musical version. I'm your girl if you need someone to help out with a rousing chorus of "Do You Hear The People Sing?".
I'm currently editing/writing a dystopian YA that still has a looooong way to go. I'm also researching/writing a new YA that's historical sci-fi? Maybe fantasy? Whatever genre those pesky time-traveling pirates fit into.

Ahh good luck with reading Les Mis! It took me something like 4 months to read a slightly abridged version, then I got the unabridged version and went back and read the bits that were left out before, so I know what a commitment it is to read! We in Les Mis fandom call it The Brick, and for good reason, obviously. If Hugo starts talking about the Parisian sewer system, feel free to skip that bit. The musical is GREAT I will join you in that chorus of "Do You Hear the People Sing." Also pesky time-traveling pirates sound pretty awesome!

I'm Sarah and I write YA and the occasional NA or children's story. I'm random like that I'm currently revising a YA fantasy novel. The non-writing part of life is full of kids, lesson plans (I homeschool) and long walks, preferable at the beach.

Hi Sarah! Kudos to you for being able to fit in writing on top of homeschooling and looking after the kids! If I was that busy, I don't think I'd be able to crank out more than a haiku a month. What kind of fantasy is your current novel?

I MISSED YOU! Hi Sarah Nice to meet you! Is it still technically 'meeting' in the virtual world? YA fantasy.. sounds right up my alley! Are you going to be working on it during Nano? Just an update on my life at the moment for anyone who is interested... I am TOTALLY having a mid-life crisis! ARGH. So I've decided that I really screwed up with my career choice after uni and after much deliberation, I've decided to finally fix my current situation by going BACK to school to get my veterinary nurse qualification AHH exciting! But also terrifying. I'm pretty much committing to a lot of hard work for very little money lol... Like, ridiculously low. Seriously, the people scanning groceries at the supermarket will be earning more money than I will be. Oh god, someone please tell me I've done the right thing?! Wait...should this post be in a different section? I'm sure there's a "HELP I HAVE A CRISIS" section on this wonderful forum.

Jules I did the same thing with this nursing nonsense remember lol. From business to nursing. But I am loving it. Even if I feel like I'm being pulled into the pits of hell by the devil. It's hard work but I know it will pay off in the long run. Go for it! You have my support...unless nursing school kills me lol

Yaaaaaay Rae's back! Missed ya! Sorry to hear that nursing school is annoyingly hard, but it sounds like the payoff will definitely be worth it. I'm always here to procrastinate with you! Jules: This is our forum. You can post about crises wherever you want to. (Katy, I'm sorry for encouraging us to add chaos all over your hard work. But not that sorry. ) I think as long as you're doing what you really want to do, that alone makes it the best decision. Any big decision will be incredibly scary, but like Rae said, it will pay off in the long run. Plus, veterinary nursing! That's so cool! When do you go back to school?

Kate: You're right about this being our forum! No need to apologize for "encouraging us to add chaos all over your hard work". That's the point of the hard work!! Get it messy, everyone! If it starts to look strange, that's what my admin status is for Jules: Veterinary nursing! That's so cool!! Keep us updated on your excellent adventure!
